  • Circuit trips every time it rains

We just bought our first house, so I am not very (at all?) familiar with electrical circuits.

The circuit that includes our outdoor plugs and swimming pool trips every time it rains. It this dangerous? The plugs are all GFCI but the pool pump operates from a flip switch on the side of the house.

    Thanks!

You've got moisture getting into the circuit and causing the trip. All of the receptacles should be in a While in use box http://www.leviton.com/sections/prod...ts/s5c12p7.htm
to prevent water from getting in. Do all of the receptacles go dead or just one of them. I don't know how the circuit is wired. Does the circuit come out of the house to a GFCI and then are the other receptacles daisy chained off of the LOAD side so they're all protected from this first GFCI. If it is then check this GFCI first for moisture and loose or corroded wires, replace the GFCI and install in a while in use box.

could be defective underground conduit. IE: rusting out.
