15amp air conditioner

Hi,
I have a 15amp air conditioner, but a 10 amp power outlet. Should i just change the outlet to a 15 amp one? I hear the wiring in a house is capable of handling 15amp, is this true?

Hi John, yes, If this is a household circuit, then you can replace it with a 15 amp receptacle, just make sure that you do not use the little holes in the back of the receptacle to push the wires into. You'll want to wrap the wires around the screws on the sides. Here's a link that'll show you how
