Is it ok to strip the wires from Romex and run those wires in Wiremold for a light fixture?

  • #2
It depends on where this light fixture is located. If it's an interior installation, then yes, just be sure you don't harm any of the wires taking them out of the sheathing. THHN wire is required for interior and THWN for wet locations such as exterior. If this is a long run and if there's any elbows then I would suggest you just buy stranded THHN, you'll have less kinks and easier to run. Here's a link that may help you out in using wiremold.

The wire inside of romex is of solid construction with type TW insulation. The wire inside of armored cable (bx) is thhn solid. THHN might be a problem to run with that outer nylon coating but in the long run is better than solid.
