  • installing a 4 socket meter center

I need to change a 100 amp single meter to a 200 amp, 4 socket meter center. I have found 2 CutlerHammer 2 socket meter centers, and 4 dual gang tenant main breakers for a third of the price of the Square D 4 socket meter center I was originally going to go with. Can anyone tell me how to tie them together?
Also, inspector wants a 100amp breaker for the unit that has 220 (a drier). We were going to use 60amp breakers for the remaining 3 small (325sf)units. All have gas heat, and stoves. Is it possible to do this with a 200amp drop?
    Any info much appreciated. Bill

General Electric makes a tenant panel with main lugs for the input, separate main disconnects for each tenant. Go to your electrical jobber and ask to look through the distribution catalogs. Most of these are stock or minumum shipping times. There's a separate space for the incoming leads and lugs and buswork for the mains to each apartment's meter and disconnect.

With special permission the inspector might approve 60 amp tenant mains - check with him first as the rule of thumb is 100 amp per panel minumum.
