  • room no power - breaker not jumped

    hi yesterday my bedroom light went out every power light and switch went out..it was not any different i did not plug anything into it more than i have in the past 5 years...

    i went downstairs check the breaker box...the breaker had not jumped? i switch the it on and off any ways...nothing happen...

    what could have cause this? all the room is attached to one breaker..

    Sounds like either a loose wire or a tripped GFCI receptacle. If no GFCI recpetacle is tripped, then open the breaker and check each receptacle to see if any of the wires are stuck in the little holes in the backs of them. If they are, then remove them and wrap them around the screws on the sides. These backstabbed receptacles are the cause of lots of problems. Also check under wirenuts, pull the wires to make sure they're tight. Also check the light fixture connections, all wires even in the back of the box's

    It's probably the first non working receptacle on the circuit or the last working receptacle on the circuit. So check each device.
