Touch Lamp Repair

My mother-in-law placed a compact fluorescent bulb in her bedroom touch lamp. It turned on and then off. Then she replaced it with a standard light bulb and now the touch lamp will not turn off. She has to unplug it each time. Is there anything I can do to fix it? She really loves this lamp.

the touch gizmo operates of body capacitance. Kinda hard to explain to a general person but you can get replacements at lowes or home depot.

I agree with Hazy, it is difficult to explain, but bascially there is an electronic circuit in your lamp that contains a transistor with a memory, a flip-flop type circuit. When you touch the lamp you fullfill the capacitance required and the circuit reacts. I'm thinking the circuit has now failed, best just to buy a new lamp now.
