I want to replace an approx 5 foot long light fixture with two separate fixtures over the bathroom sinks/mirror. The new fixtures will be about three feet apart. The j-box for the old fixture is in the middle between where they will be mounted. How can I get power to both fixtures without tearing up the wall?

you will only have the option of using wiremold raceway and fixture boxes - given what you state.
you'll need a round wiremold extension ring, a length of #517 wiremold, and two #5751 boxes. If you want to come down the wall on either side of the mirror you'll also need 2 - #517 ninety degree elbows.
chances are that the existing box is a rail mount box that is affixed to two studs centered over your sink. you "may" be able to remove the j box but may lose the clamp on the back of the rail - maybe not depending on the box. RACO has one that captures the "nut" if you can get off the box, using a flexible drill you can bore a hole in both studs and use conventional boxes and wiring to drop your fixtures down on wither side of the mirror. trouble is you don't know what's on the other side of the studs! you may drill through a wire, in which case you'll hafta tear up the wall to see the boo-boo and fix it.
