i have a hunter ceiling fan with lights and a remote controller. recently, when turning the light on via the wall switch, the light goes on momentarily then flashes on and off quickly. many times the fan will also start and goes to "high". the fan worked fine for two years. what the heck is going on?

Is this remote battery operated? My thinking is that the power to the ceiling controller needs a constant source of power. Switching it on and off at the wall switch, changes the on and off state of the controller.

yep, it's a battery operated controller. the flashing just started a few weeks ago which just seems weird to me?

i see what you're saying about the power source. i gotta fix the flashing tho. any thoughts or do i replace it (it's only 3 years old)
thanks for taking the time to respond

I checked the one I got - it's also a hunter. Mine has power applied constantly to the fixture. The remote has motor lo-med-hi, same with the lights only it ramps up from dim to bright - with an off push button. battery is about two years old - haven't had a problem with it.

sounds like the same remote but my power supply isn't constant (wall switch)

well i took your lead and left the wall switch on for awhile. the lite/fan eventually stopped flashing. later on, and using only the remote, i was able to operate the lite/fan. so (tho i have no idea why) everything works fine as long as i use the remote to work the dang thing and leave the wall switch "on" -i have taped it to prevent accidental usage

          thanks for the help
