  • Wiring order for an outlet and a switch

I have a pair of wall switches, one at either end of the kitchen, that control my overhead light. I want to add an outlet near one of the switches. I don't want the outlet to be controlled by the switch. Does anyone see a problem with pulling power from the existing switch to do this? If not, should I run power to the outlet first and then to the switch or vice versa? Any nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I did look through the forum first, so I apologize if I missed this question being answered. [:I]

One of these switches is receiving power directly. The other is looped with that switch and the light. You want to tap the power before it makes it to the first switch. So run the power to the outlet first, then the first switch. Make sense?
