  • I need to install a ceiling fan in concrete...

I need advice on how I can install a ceiling fan into an existing electrical box which is set into an elevated poured concrete patio/porch. It is a 2x4 box and is wired to 2 two-way switches. Which leads me to my other question: How can I wire this fan up so the light and fan are controlled separately, with the light by the switch and the fan by a pull cord?

    Thanks.

only way I can see as a path for you is to get a fan with a battery remote control. I've got a Hunter 52 inch fan with lights and a remote. haven't changed the battery in it for three years and it still works. separate fan, HI-MED-LO, lights ramps up and down and OFF.

      How to hang the fan?

Thanks for the advice on the electrical.

Any ideas on how to attach the fan itself into the outlet box which is encased in the poured concrete?

      Thanks.

the circuit uses something called a masonary box which is embedded in the concrete pour. fans are usually supported by a special box and 10-32 screws.
In your case this is impractical. try tapping the holes with a 10-32 tap where you can use 10-32 screws. the bracket for the fan fastens to the box with 10-32 screws and lockwashers. follow normal wiring black to black, white to white and any special wiring instructions supplied with the fan.
