what does this light switch control?

I have a double light switch in my dining room. One is a dimmer the other is a switch. The dimmer controls the light in the dining room. I can't figure out what the switch controls. Any ideas?

My first thought was for a fan but its a dining room. So I doubt that. Maybe it controls an outlet. Really no way to tell unless you trace it.

It controls half of a receptacle in your next door neighbor's living room. Third one from the left as you enter the room.

take off the switchplate and see if anything is connected to the two screws of the switch. see if there is a RED wire connected to the bottom of the switch. next with the switch on check the outlet [upper and lower positions] nearest to the switch location [plug in a light] then shut off the switch. re-check the two positions. if the light stays on in both positions, check all outlets in the room. first with the switch on then off.
