Need light in Bedroom-no hardwires

Okay, here's my issue:

I want to install lighting my bedroom, but I cannot wire it into the ceiling (and I don't wanna hire an electrician to do that). I am looking at a couple options and could use some opinions.

First I was thinking about doing some track lighting with a plug-in adaptor. Question there is how long a track can I use, and how many lights can I use on one plug?

The other question is can I use a hardwire fixture and adapt it to a plug-in cord?

And, something a little more complicated......
there used to be a hardwired ceiling fixture, but it was removed because the light switch also controls two of the outlets in the room. Is there an easy way to fix that so I COULD actually use a hardwire fixture without turning my outlets on and off??

Your last question is the easiest... assuming that only one of the two plugs is switched and the other one is constantly powered. What you will find when you remove the two outlets that are switch controlled should be two hot wires (probably one red and one black). You will need to purchase two new outlets and hook up only one of the hots to the hot side. The two outlets you are removing have the tab broken that makes the two plugs share the one supply. The remaining hot wire that you do not use has to be capped.

Once this is done then the wall switch will only control the overhead light.

So, here's what I ended up doing...

I found out (after closer inspection) that I have an outlet on top of the beam that goes across my ceiling, which meant I needed some light fixture that would plug in.

So I bought a standard ceiling fixture (with a pull chain, so I wouldnt have to unplug it all the time) and wired it to a cord with a 3-prong plug, as if I was wiring the fixture to a junction box in the ceiling.

The verdict...I can see!! hehe
