  • new 3way popping breaker

As part of a recent renovation, I have added/relocated a light with 3-way switches. I am pretty sure I have the wiring correct (drawing attached), but the breaker keeps popping as soon as I turn it on.

    Source > Switch1 > light > Switch2

note: the source and switch1 were previously operating a different fixture. I cut the 3 way wire and added the light and switch2 into a new location.
In the drawing, switch1 is only based on what I see from removing the outlet, it is wired from the original builder.

what have I done wrong, why does the breaker pop?

I got it .. bonehead move of the day..

I am using the push in connectors on the switches, leaving the screw posts empty. On what must be my 10th time taking it appart and reverifying my connections, I finally noticed that my ground wire was accidently connected to a screw for one of the travelers, immedialy above the proper ground screw.

Moved the ground to the proper screw and viola! everything is perfect.

    thanks
