  • Issue with existing home circuit

OK, I'm no expert, so I know very little about wiring. In my bedroom, all of the outlets are on the same circuit (50yo house). In the room, I have both a TV and a small refrigerator. I've noticed that when the refrigerator's cycle ends and it sounds like it temporarily turns off, the TV flickers. Is there anything I can do without major rewiring to keep the power from the fridge from going to the TV. I already have a surge protector in play.

it was common to have one circuit covering about 12 outlets. and - fifteen amp at that. power isn't "fed" to other devices when it shuts off on one, its there for the whole circuit. if you don't move the fridge, consider running just one dedicated circuit for it and nothing else. a refrigerator draws about 125% more than running nameplate current when it starts.
