  • 20V on Light Switch

We have a ceiling fan with light. Both worked properly for several months until we had some electrical problems with our supply from the utility pole. It ended up frying all electronics that were plugged in throughout the entire office. Anyways, the ceiling fan still works, but the light does not. The switch for the fan measures 125V, but the switch for the light only measures 20V. At the ceiling I have 125V for both the fan and the light. At the output of the fan and input of the light there is 125V. I have double-checked all connections in the switch box and at the fan unit. The switch has 20V on it whether the fan is connected at the ceiling or not. Any ideas where my problem lies?

change the switch. 125 in should have 125 out. if the light is on a dimmer electronics then the triac is shot!
