The switch controlling a couple of lights in our basement has stopped working. The last time it did work one of the lights glowed then went off a few times before quitting. Changed bulbs, checked power to the switch, replaced the switch. Haven't tested the fixtures yet, but it seems strange that both fixtures would go bad at once. Do wires just go dead sometimes?

If the light sort of glowed like it was on a low dimmer setting before it stopped working, the first thing I would look for is a loose or broken neutral (the white wire) possibly in the first light wired from your switch (or if you have your neutrals wire nutted together in your switch box, it may be there as well.) If that is loose or broken it would most certainly affect the second light as well. Hope I've been of some help. Good luck. -
Problem solved. One of the very old wires in the fixture had come loose. Thanks for the suggestion.Comment
