I am getting ready to start wiring my 2300 SQ FT basement but need to know if I can run wires from my panel box to other rooms through the soffit tunnel that hides the duct work? This would help me to not have to drill holes in all of the floor joist to get the wires to the other end of house.

I will have other questions later on. Thanks

You can run the romex through the tunnel if you support the cable not more than 4 feet apart. Use ty-raps or insulated tie wires. Where you go down through a plate to a box, staple within 6 inches of the box. If you have multiple cables running down a stud use "stack -ems" - around a corner through studs, use metal plates to protect the cable(s) trade name "nail plates"
