  • Partial vinyl floor repair

I have an area in front of my sliding glass door that had water damage. The floor (and subfloor) had to be removed. Now that the subfloor has been replaced, I have about a 7' x 2' area with no floor. Are they any creative ways to replace this section with something different from the original floor? I'm trying to keep from replacing the floor in the entire room since this is a rental house, but still end up with something acceptable. The original floor is vinyl, but has a parquet "look".[?]

    Thanks.

Not sure if I understand exactly what you're saying, but it sounds like this could be a good time to try your hand a laying tile.

If the section that needs to be redone runs the whole length of the sliding doors, you could fill all of that with some cool looking tile.

It would look kind of like an indoor stoop, and you'd have a firm footing that would be more waterproof than some cheap linoleum.
