I'm working on remodeling the house I bought, and I'm noticing the floor is sloping in the LR, and the kitchen, which is off the LR, seems to be even worse. It seems the weight of the kitchen made the floors settle. It's on the second floor, and I'd like to keep it that way, but I've bough laminate flooring to put down, and I'd really like to do the kitchen to match, but I don't know if the leveling compounds will work. The floor infront of the cabinets is actually a good 2" lower than the outside of the room, which is the edge of the house. I'm afraid if I jack the main beam in the basement any I'll have to replace a lot of sheetrock, but at the same time, I'd like it to look right. Any suggestions?
