  • kitchen spray handle is blocking

My kitchen faucet spray handle has suddenly failed.
Flipping it on, it sometimes now runs for a second or two but then stops cold.

After removing the handle, water flows through the flexible hose.
So I've disassembled the handle itself.

Strangest thing is that blowing through the spray handle from the bottom, air flows fine.
But when I reattach the handle (aerator removed so the only mechanical bit remaining is the diverter) and flip on the water (so I would think replacing my blown air with flowing water) it blocks again.

What's going on? why would air flow but not water?

Update: only blocks at high volume

Stranger still. when I run the water at very low volume, it flows fine.
It's only when I flip it to Full On that it seizes up.

I am presently soaking the head in vinegar-water.
Who knows - there might be some switch in the long part of the handle.

      spray

I doubt it being something in the hose or handle. more than likely something in the diverter within the valve body of the faucet.
