I have an outdoor water faucet, Woodford Freezeless Model 25, that whenever it is turned on with a hose attached, it seems more water spray out from around the valve than comes through the hose. This is the faucet I normally water my garden from and usually there are soaker hoses attached to it, so the water is under some pressure.
The plastic collar around the hex of the faucet neck is where it sprays water from. I assume there is a gasket or packing that needs to be replaced, but I have never taken apart a faucet to actually know, and would like to hear from those who know more than I before I attempt to take it apart, or to be told it is better to replace the whole unit.
