  • Crushed Granite Sink Help

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but maybe a mod will move if for me if it's not.

Recently my finacee was cleaning paint of of hinges with paint stripper... In our black crushed granite sink. This caused some nasty white sloches all over the sink. I have tried several things to clean it, and no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? The paint stripper temporarly softened the composit until I rinshed it all off, and let it harden again.

Can it be sanded, and resealed somehow?

We are trying to list out house, and I really dont want to have to replace the sink because of hose bad it looks.

Thanks for any help you may have.

Hey everyone! If you're dealing with stubborn white stains on a black crushed granite sink from paint stripper, here are a few tips that might help:

    1. Baking Soda Paste: Try making a paste with baking soda and water, apply it to the stained areas, let it sit for a bit, then scrub gently with a soft cloth. This can help lift some of the stains.

    2. Vinegar and Water: For another option, mix vinegar with water and apply it to the stains. Just make sure to rinse the sink thoroughly afterward.

    3. Granite Cleaner: Look for a cleaner specifically designed for granite or composite sinks. These are formulated to clean without damaging the surface and might be more effective.

    4. Sanding and Resealing: If the stains are persistent and you’re up for a bit of DIY, you could try sanding the affected areas with fine-grit sandpaper. After sanding, clean the sink well and reseal it with a granite or composite sealant.

    5. Professional Help: If you’re unsure about sanding or if the above methods don’t work, consulting a professional who specializes in granite surfaces might be a good idea.

Hopefully, these suggestions help you get your sink looking great again!
