  • Interchangable Tub Faucet?

My house was built in 1968, and bathroom tub fixute is of the old type with washer at end held by a brass screw, which often needs replacing - like now!

Without remodeling the entre system, is it possible to change this type of fitting with a washerless type or, do I have to continue using this style of fixture and keep replaing washer to stop leaks. I had already bought a new fixture/housing when I moved into house in 1998 and performed the maintence for propper seal.

    Thanks

if I'm correct the spacing for a stem and washer faucet is 6 inches on center. check the home depot or lowes for a replacement. the new cartridges last longer and you don't need a graphite packing under the gland nut. the new delrin washers last longer too and are not so affected by heat.
