  • Shower Pan: liners vs. hot mops

My shower pan is leaking and needs to be replaced. The shower is on the second floor and was built in 1991 with a hot mop. One contractor tells me to use hot mop method again. Another contractor says that liner is much better but if I want the hot mop he can do that as well. Any advice on which method is better? Assuming liners are better, should I use CPE or PVC? Please help!!

I'd never consider a hot mop method for a shower stall, not ever.
All shower stalls we build we either use a mud base with a rubber liner then another mud base then tile or we often use Wedi Shower systems, basically they are compressed foam with cement attached to both sides, when correctly installed there is less than a 1% chance of ever leaking.
Little about a lot and a lot about a little.
Every day is a learning day.
