    new keyed door knob in bedroom help

    hey guys... i have a pesky roommate that i'm trying to keep out of my room. i installed a new keyed door knob...however when i close it.. from outside my room, there is a very nice gap that can be seen when the door is pushed in. more than ample to get a credit card/butterknife into where the bevel is... any ideas on what to put in the gap..stripping?? .. btw... it is EASILY opened from the outside with a butter knife.. i just tried

    There is a hardened striker plate you can buy that goes behind the existing striker plate. The other way is to just re-key the passage lockset to a different combination. Re-keying will probably cost you about 17 bucks, but it is security you want, eh?
