Stucco to cover or tear down is the question?

I have a stucco problem. The old owner turned a covered patio into a den or dining area by walling it in with a HUGE sliding glass door 15ft wide and 9ft high. I plan on replacing that big door with some windows and french doors. Meanwhile, what the heck do I do about all the stucco. It hurts if you scuff yourself on the wall. Plus it looks like the outside of the house that doesnt belong on the inside. The room feels out of place. How do I remove the stucco or can I wall over it? It is so hard to break away its like cement. I want to put tounge and groove floor to ceiling and cover it up but I dont know that my nailer will go throught the stucco? Should I drill and use screws. Thoughts anyone? [^]
