Can Old metal Windows be Repaired?

    Hi all,

Instead of replacing our windows in a home we purchased we want to repair them. The home is 18 yrs old and the previous owners allowed the windows to get dry and not clean or maintain them. So, when I open them up they squeak and some just drop down instead of staying up and plastic little parts that are between the metal strips are popping out.

To replace them, it will cost $8000 and would prefer to repair. These are the metal black windows style so popular in the 80's in Texas.

    Thank you
