  • knock down over vog board?

    Help !!
We are in the process of remodeling our 10 year old manufactured home.
The walls have vinyl over gipson board. We have remove the tac strips and mud and taped over seams. A friend suggested to spray walls with knock down. I don't think it will work. I think down the road it may crack and pop off. Has anyone had to deal with this? Any suggestions welcome.
(We may just prime and paint over it)

Knockdown is the process of using some sort of compound (like thinned drywall mud, for instance) sprayed over the sheetrock in dollops, it's allowed to get tacky, and then a trowel is used to "knck down" the tops of the dollops to achieve a textured, stucco-like finish. Some people swear by a purpose-made product rather than thinned mud, citing that the mud method leads to moisture problems. I don't know first-hand if that's true.

I also have no experince installing it over VOG. sorry.

Contact a MFG. of vinyl coated gypsum products, they will have a recommended method of transitioning from the vinyl.
