  • Plaster Wall Repair help

I am trying tp patch several holes about 3" round in my paster walls. I filled them with compound and let them dry, but now, I am wondering what is the best way to sand them even. Method, type of sandpaper, etc.

Also, In soime spots, the pait is flaking off the plaster walls. should I just primer over the flakes after breaking away the lose ends or what?

are you using plaster of paris for the repairs or sheetrock mud? in any case you can use 80 grit open coat sandpaper then go to a 120 grit paper. prime using a good primer - zissner kilz is a good brand. for your other wall parts, scrap off the loose spots and use the kilz on them. when paint comes off a bare wall, it is said that there are hot spots on the plaster. don't confuse this with actual heat - there isn't any the lime in the plaster mix comes to the surface and flakes off.- dunno just something plaster does.
