  • can ceiling cracks be repaired?

I have electric radiant ceiling heat (electric cables embedded between, I'm not sure what it is, it's not regular drywall, it seems to be cement board--you can't hammer a nail into the walls, they bend) . . . anyway, several rooms have long cracks in the ceiling (some cracks extend down into the wall a bit too). Can these cracks be repaired without them coming back w/seasonal changes? I'm assuming the cracks are from a combo of seasonal changes & the heat in the ceiling, and not structural. Trying to not have to replace the ceilings, then I'd have to replace the heating systems as well, there's no way to tear out the ceiling without ripping out the heating system. Any ideas are appreciated.

you'll need to find a type of mud that expands and contracts with temperature changes. regular gypsum wallboard compound dries hard so it'll show up more cracks. see if you can find a latex or rubber based compound. try the guys that sell the radiant heat. see what they recommend.
