  • HELP my tile ceiling is sagging

My son's room has an interlocking acoustical tile ceiling that was there when we bought the house. I'm a single mom and have no idea what to do to fix the ceiling now that it's sagging. I'm assuming the glue is just no good anymore... any ideas? Can it just be fixed? Can I put screws in it, help!!!

These tiles are probably "tounge and groove". They are stapled to wood strips at the tounge and this is covered by the groove of the next tile. You could try stapling the sagging areas back to the strips. That would probably be less noticable than using screws. These tiles can usually be painted too, it you think it needs it.

Thanks for the input! I'll try it. It looks like they used a glue type substance. Dunno!

look at the tile seam if they installed alternating tiles, one side will be totally straight. this indicates where the furring strips are. use a hand stapler with 9/16" staples. then paint your tiles.
