  • Wall textures for living room

    Hello.

What are the pros and cons of different wall textures for living rooms? Looking to understand options beyond smooth walls, like orange peel, knockdown, or skip trowel.

I would really appreciate a quick response. Thank you!

    Hi there!

Sorry the first post I did for some reason is unapproved. When considering different wall textures for your living room, each option comes with its own set of pros and cons. If you're exploring beyond smooth walls, orange peel is a subtle option that adds a light texture while helping to hide imperfections, though it can be a bit more difficult to clean than smooth surfaces. Knockdown texture, which has a more pronounced and rustic look, is excellent at disguising wall flaws, but it’s a bit harder to apply and maintain. Then there’s skip trowel, which gives walls an artistic, hand-applied finish, offering more depth and character but also requires more effort to apply and can be challenging to clean.

Smooth walls provide a sleek, modern look but tend to highlight any imperfections, while textured finishes like orange peel, knockdown, and skip trowel offer more visual interest and do a better job of concealing flaws. However, they do come with higher maintenance and application challenges, so it’s important to weigh the style and upkeep you're comfortable with.

    Hope this helps!
