  • Brick patio

My 50 year-old brick patio has a dry, milky, cloudy appearance. Is there any way I can restore it to get rid of the cloudiness? I have tried a solution of muriatic acid; and the brick looks better afterward but only when it is still moist. Once it dries, the cloudy appearance returns.

I suspect there is no solution but would welcome suggestions. ...wdc

I would power wash it, being careful not to gauge the surface, but only to clean it well, then 'paint' it with one of the breathable clearcoat finishes for brick. Don't have any idea on brand names, but a good painter's supply outlet could help you with it. We have coated many of the decorative rocks and boulders around our 'landscaping' with clear urethane. That holds up to the elements for a few years. But then that's on rock that's not as pourous as brick....
