Flashing Problem

We purchased a home a few years ago and have just recently become aware of a pretty serious problem. It seems the upper deck off the main floor of our house was installed with no flashing. We are now having a pretty bad problem with leaks in the basement when it rains.

Can flashing be installed on an existing deck?

You'll need to remove the siding directly above the deck boards and then install the flashing so it comes down and overlaps the ledger board. Then reinstall the siding. Will be harder to do it this way but it'll keep from rotting out your wood. Below is a link that may help you out.
