Replacing a window

Not sure if this is the best place for this but....

I need to replace the glass in the upper section of a Certainteed, single hung window. Can I just have the glass pane replaced by a window shop? How do I get it out? I haven't really looked at it yet, but was looking for some pointers before I get started.

The web site only mentions double hung windows. Two separate sashes that move independently of each other. there is a counter balance spring on each side. older windows used a cast iron weight and ropes. The inside moulding needs to be taken out first. Then there is a divider strip between the two panes that needs to be removed. older windows had this strip nailed and fitted into each casing. once this is out then the window can be tilted out sideways to remove it.
