  • How to narrow storm door opening?

Hello, Home Repair Gurus! First post here...

Need to change the opening from 36.5" to 36" to hang a new storm door in enclosed porch. Not sure how can I pad the hinge side (it is better accessible than the handle side which is completely enclosed in sheet metal) for just half an inch? The top to bottom is also a little over standard 80". Never owned a house before, so learning on the job... Also, should I use the pressure treated wood for this opening?

    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

use regular pine. find someone with a thickness planer and plane or adjust the thickness to where you want it. then prime both sides with an oil based primer. use a weatherproof adhesive and galvanized screws to hold the plank in place. chisel out the recess for the hinges and you should be good to go.
