This weekend's project is going to be to replace the jalousie window in our bedroom with a double-hung or casement window. We'll be using Pella ProLine Series 450 from the local Lowes. We've used these windows before and really like them.
The difference now is that the current window location is no good, too far into the room, so I'll be cutting a new hole and framing. I know about headers, cripple studs, jack studs, load bearing walls, etc etc etc, and I know where the electrical is in the wall, but what I don't know about is cutting a hole in my house.
That's a little intimidating. Is there anywhere that details the process, down to cutting back the siding (lap siding, in this case) for the ext molding, framing the opening, etc? One thing right off the top is how much to cut out of the exterior to allow for framing?
