Hello. Upon buying our first home, we discovered that squirrels had taken up residence inbetween our first and second floor. Using a wood plank and some steel wool, we've blocked off their entrance*, but the wood and steel wool is only a short-term fix. Below the wood is a bit of rusting tin, which is bound to wear (and get chewed) away when the squirrels try to come back this winter.
Is there an easy way to patch - or cover - the tin? There's another hole in back that we stuffed steel wool in, and that will need to be fixed too.
Any suggestions for plugging these holes in a non-hideous way would be very much appreciated (We plan on painting the wood to match the exterior.)
* They would sit in the gutter and chew at the rusted tin just below the roofing
