  • Cracks in exterior door

    Hi all

I am new here. I just purchased a home in North Carolina, I have a solid wood entry door with leaded glass. There is no storm door, This door faces south and gets alot of sun. This door has two cracks that go all the way through the door. The past owner never maintained the door. The varnish is worn away where the cracks are. I would like to repair this door and stain it again and coat it with Spar Varnish. My problem is I tried to repair it with Gorilla glue but it became brittle and feel out when the door cracks expanded. Anybody know what I can use that will except stain

    Thanks John

    Door Cracks

Yes, there are wood fillers out there that accept wood stain. The one I use is Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Filler. It is made specifically for that type of problem, cracks in wood. It is weather resistant, stainable or paintable, after it dries it will hold nails or screws, and cleans up easily with water. It also can be used on the interior or exterior of the door.
