  • Central Air Unit Not Cooling House

I have 2 units- one upstairs and one downstairs-

The upstairs is blowing- I feel the air blowing- the thingamabob outside (can't think of the name) is operating, but no cold air. I did notice that there's no water being pumped out.

I hear its the compressor, but hopefully it's something else. Is there a few other checks I can do before I call the rapis- I mean the HVAC guy?

    Thanks!

the unit outside houses the compressor and the condenser. the inside units are called air handling units or "A" coil or evaporator. freon lines are fed side by side to each A coil. There is a high pressure line [the smaller one] and the low pressure or "suction" side [ the larger tubing]. most of the temperature change takes place at the condenser and its fan. don't expect to see a torrent of water coming out of this. the air handling units have a fan and its asociated fan contactor or relay. about all you can do is check for a blocked air duct. the rest of the highly techy stuff leave it for the pro-s.
