  • Plaster Walls damp around chimney

Guys, I am getting damp walls around my chimney on the outside wall. I have had the top portion above the roof line sealed, mortar is in good and and have a chimeny cricket to divert the water and still it is leaking/seeping. Could something as simple as sealing the rest of the chimney solve the problem. Also, the area that is moist is extensive starting on the second floor and going to the first floor. Thanks, for any help Brian

Sounds like a flashing problem, most of the time chimney problems with moisture are flashing related. Can you take a picture of the chimney (exterior) indicating where the issue is ?
Little about a lot and a lot about a little.

pushkins is right. Most of the chimney leaks we see are due to either a bad chimney cap or failed (or improperly installed) flashing at the joint between the roof line and chimney. While tuck-pointing and sealing the brick might be necessary, start with leak testing the flashing and then go from there.
