Getting ready to replace roof(s) on our old 2 story farmhouse. The current roof sheathing is 1x8, 1x10 & 1x12's boards nailed to 2x4 rafters 24"c-c. Some of the boards need replaced here/there, some have knotholes. I would like to add 1/4" lauan plywood to cover some of the uneveness of the boards, knotholes, etc. I thought lauan might have a weight savings over osb. The roof feels/seems solid & I'm leery about adding more weight than necessary. The roof(s) are also high, 30ft +/-, so material handling will also be an issue.
