  • Strange Garage Door Opener Problem

I have a Overhead Door model 696CD/B opener that's approximately 7 years old. It has developed an issue where when it's is opening, it will stutter for about a half second almost like it looses power. It then continues up normally. Sometime when this happens, once it's fully up, it will not respond almost like it's completely lost all power. Light doesn't work, lights on the wall button are out, lights on the door sensors are not on, nothing. The only way to get it back working is to unplug it for a few seconds and plug it back in or flip the breaker off and back on. It's like there is an internal memory or breaker that must be reset. It is random in where the motion of the door is when this happens. It does not happen in the same spot every time. I've only noticed this happening when it is going up. I have pulled the door release cord and checked the door manaully and it moves freely up and down with no tight spots or noticable issues.

    Any ideas?

Sound like a board failure. Check the soldering point for the transformer.
