Annoying Problem with Craftsman garage door and remote

1. My garage door will open when I press the control pad on the wall but I have to hold it down so the door will go completely down, otherwise it goes back up. What could be doing this?

2. When I press my garage door remote it only moves the garage door back and forth in a span of about 1 foot but does not open nor close the door all the way. I've already changed the batteries in the remote so that's not it.

Please help with the above issues!

1. Your safety sensor are out of alignment. They have to point straight with the door and in level, make sure nothing is in front of the sensor blocking the beam. All depending how old the opener are the safety sensor will have a green/green light or green/yellow they have to be on for the door to close. Holding the wall control to close you over writing the system.

2. Not sure, but I think when you fixed # 1. your remote will work again.
