  • Old Genie BlueMax 12A; New Wireless Entry Remote

I purchased a place with an old Genie BlueMax garage door (GD) model 12A. I want to add a Wireless Keypad Entry Remote. My GD unit uses dip switches vs learn button to pair a remote. I purchased the Genie wireless keypad entry system but can’t find a way to pair the units since it doesn’t have a dip switch system. Is that the issue? Or am I missing something?

It sounds like your Genie BlueMax garage door opener, which uses dip switches, might not be compatible with the newer wireless keypad you bought since it doesn’t use dip switches for pairing. To solve this, you should look for a keypad that’s specifically designed for older Genie models with dip switches. You can find one by checking with Genie’s customer support or searching online for compatible keypads. If it’s tough to find the right one, consider using a universal remote that supports dip switch programming as an alternative.
