Are garage door locks needed in conjunction with auto garage door openers?

Can anyone tell me if garage door locks are generally used in conjunction with garage door openers. I am specifically thinking of the large steel garage doors that open vertically. Are seperate manual locks needed or will the electric garage door opener itself provides sufficient lockage? I only ask as I can't life the garage door manually when closed but there are also no physical locks installed (besides the Chamberlain garage door opener itself).

    thanks

    Door locks..

The door opener itself acts as the lock. If it were to be manually locked from the inside, using the remote on the outside would activate the sytem, but the sytem couldn't open door because of the manual locks. Your not being able to open it manually from the outside proves the lockability of the door opener.

Sure, they are indeed generally used in conjunction with garage door openers.
