  • LiftMaster 87504-267 WiFi connectivity issues

Hi everyone! I want to know what could cause WiFi connectivity issues with the LiftMaster 87504-267. Are there specific router settings, signal interference factors, or MyQ app configurations that could affect its ability to stay connected reliably?

    Hi there!

WiFi connectivity issues with the LiftMaster 87504-267 can be caused by a few factors. First, ensure your router is running on a stable 2.4 GHz band, as many garage door openers, including the LiftMaster, have better compatibility with it. If your router has a 5 GHz band, make sure the opener is connected to the 2.4 GHz one.

Also, check for interference from other devices like microwaves or thick walls that may block the signal. You might want to try moving the router closer to the opener or use a WiFi extender to boost the signal in that area.

In terms of the MyQ app, make sure it’s updated to the latest version, and confirm that your opener is properly registered with your MyQ account. If you continue to experience issues, try unlinking and relinking your device in the app.

If none of this works, resetting the WiFi settings on the opener and reconnecting it to your network can sometimes solve persistent problems.

Just to clarify, when resetting the WiFi on the opener, is it necessary to go through the full setup process in the MyQ app again, or is there a quicker way to reconnect it to the network?

It depends on the type of reset you perform:
        • If you only reset the WiFi settings (by pressing and holding the WiFi button until the LED blinks blue), you should be able to reconnect it to a new network without redoing the full setup. Just update the network settings in the MyQ app.
        • If you perform a full factory reset (holding the button until the LED blinks yellow), you'll need to go through the entire setup process again in the MyQ app, including adding the opener to your account.

Thanks, TinyTool! By the way, how can I tell if my router is 2.4GHz or 5GHz? Just wondering since you mentioned that the opener might have trouble with a 5GHz network.

You're welcome. There are a few easy ways to check. First, take a look at the label on the back or bottom of your router. Many models list the supported frequencies right there. If it's a dual-band router, it will likely mention both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. You can also log into your router’s settings by typing its IP address (like 192.168.1.1) into your browser. Once you're logged in, you'll be able to see whether it’s set up to broadcast on one or both frequencies. Lastly, you can check your device's Wi-Fi settings, if you see two separate network names (one for 2.4GHz and one for 5GHz), that means your router is dual-band. If there’s only one name, it’s likely broadcasting both frequencies under the same name, and your device will automatically connect to the best one. Since many devices like garage door openers have trouble with 5GHz, it’s usually a good idea to stick with 2.4GHz for those kinds of devices.
