Best Way to Prep and Paint Around an Outdoor Corner Sofa Area?

    Hello everyone.

I’m planning to repaint a section of my outdoor wall where a corner sofa sits, and I want to make sure I do it right. Since the sofa stays in place most of the time, I’m unsure how to properly prep and paint around it without causing uneven coverage or missed spots.

I’ve read that proper surface prep is key for long-lasting paint results, but working around bulky furniture seems tricky. Should I move the sofa completely, or are there effective techniques for painting tight corners and edges?

Also, any tips on protecting the furniture during the process would be appreciated!

Honestly, I’ve only painted a few rooms, but I’ve learned that protecting the furniture is almost as important as the painting itself! I usually move everything I can away from the walls and cover the larger pieces with plastic or old sheets. I put a canvas drop cloth on the floor, especially around the edges of the room, and make sure it’s taped down so I’m not tripping over it.

I also learned the hard way to cover things even if they look far enough away. Paint somehow finds its way everywhere! 😄 I usually take pictures and decorations off the walls too, and if there’s anything I’d be really upset about getting paint on, I move it completely out of the room.

Nothing fancy, but taking an extra 15–20 minutes to cover everything really saves a lot of cleanup afterward
