I have painted my concrete block foundation, but the mortar joints continue to peel out with mortar stuck on the paint. I need a permanent fix, what is it?
joint mortar is loose. scrape out what you can until you reach solid mortar, then mix up a small batch of hydraulic cement and apply in the joint and smooth down the joint. portland cement shrinks when it cures, hydraulic cement expands and will lock itself in the joint.
That's good advice. No amount of paint is going to hold back loose mortar. When you do paint however make sure to use a high quality concrete or block paint. Check the label to see if you need to prime before hand. Also make sure to clean the block of all dirt and debris before you paint. Good luck !
