Hello everyone! The thread before mine, sort of explains my problem. The only difference is, I have a ton of paint on the bricks. The people I bought my house from, painted the wooden door frame that is around my front door entrace. They used a glossy white paint, and they did a horrible job. It is all over the red brink that surrounds the doorway. I need some suggestions so I can begin to remove the paint. Thanks for the help!

sand blasting is the first thing that comes to mind but for the homeowner is a little bit impractical and a little messy. those gel type removers might work in removing the paint - again messy. next would be a scaling tool operated off an air compressor, still messy and noisy. brick is a tough surface to remove paint from. it is porous, very irregular, sometimes "soft" sometimes "hard." a wire brush on an electric drill may do it. they made a tool called a roto zip about 15 years ago - goes into an electric drill and has spring fingers mounted to a circular hub. turning on the drill, rotated those spring fingers to "scratch" off the paint.
